Gemini Notebook Bookmark Research Engine, Turn Images into Cinematic Video, Generate Thumbnails with Ask Studio

This week OnEBoard shared three tips for using Google's AI tools to simplify your creative process. Bob Danley explained the benefits of adding links to Google Notebook, rather than simply saving bookmarks; Nina Trankova shared how to use Google Slides and Vids to turn a still image into a promotional video; and Peggy Kolm demonstrated how YouTube's Ask Studio can help you create video thumbnails.

Bob Danley: Build a Bidirectional Research Engine with Google Notebook

Bob explained why you should stop bookmarking links, and start importing them into Google Notebook instead. Once the links are added as Google Notebook sources, you can then use them to generate reports, slide decks, cinematic videos, audio overviews, data tables, mind maps and more.

Bob says, "I want you to stop bookmarking the URLs in your browser and start saving those URLs and importing them into my favorite app that Google manufactures and that's Notebook LM [Google Notebook]. And the reason for that is because once you get it into notebook, that application is going to do something with that information instead of you and your URL collecting dust in your bookmarking folders."

He noted that you can also do a search for additional web sources within Notebook, but they need to be reviewed: 
"Gemini goes out, crawls the web pages, curates intake, and then you decide whether you want to import it after after going to each of these websites and making sure that they are what you want, truthful, honest, and not hallucinations."

Nina Trankova: Turn Product Images into Cinematic Video

Nina shared her favorite social media manager trick for converting a static product image in Google Slides into a dynamic animated video using Google Vids.

You start with your image in Google Slides, click the option to convert to video, then, in Google Vids use a text prompt to animate it. Google Vids uses the Veo 3 video model to generate an 8 second video clip. You can then add audio, AI voiceover and even an AI Avatar.

She notes that this integration now has many more choices of new languages for AI voiceovers, automated sync of audio and video, and Gemini Omni premium features for some subscription plans and geographic locations.

Nina says, you can start with an image of a bag of coffee, follow this process, "And that completely static, motionless coffee bag photograph from the very beginning, it is now a fully animated, perfectly narrated video commercial ready for your feed."

Limitations: 
  • Process up to 45 slides with AI at once
  • 25 avatar generations per month
  • Requires a Google Workspace Business or Enterprise account or a personal account with AI subscription.

Peggy Kolm: Use YouTube Ask Studio to Brainstorm Video Thumbnails

Peggy demonstrated how to use Ask Studio in YouTube Studio desktop to help you create eye-catching thumbnails that match your channel's style, topics  and audience.

Each thumbnail concept includes a brief description and an explanation of "why it works". You can use text prompts to iterate on the design, and once you have a version you like, download it.

Peggy says, "Sometimes it's better than others, but if you're like me and you have trouble coming up with ideas for thumbnails, this is a good way to get some suggestions based on your style and your videos and what works on YouTube."

She also suggests that the generated thumbnails are best used as suggestions: "I wouldn't actually use these as the final version. You can download them or copy them and use them if you want, but I think especially if it has a person in there, it's kind of uncanny valley looking."

  • Ask Studio is only available on desktop.
  • You must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Not available for Official Artist channels or Made for Kids channels.
