Visual Context in Meet Notes, Selfie for Google Account Sign-In, Gemini Notebook Collections

Nina Trankova: Visual Content in Meet Meeting Notes

Nina presented a new feature for Google Meet's Gemini-powered Notes that inserts screenshots from the meeting to provide visual context. Presenters can choose to disable visual screenshots during their presentation to protect confidential or sensitive information. 

Visual screenshots in Notes are available for Standard and Plus Business and Enterprise Google Workspace editions, and Google AI Pro for Education. Google Workspace administrators can enable or disable this feature at the organizational unit (OU), group, or individual level.

Nina says, "Up to now you get the notes with Gemini with the text but actually there's no context because you uh the notes don't include what's shared on screen. If there are metrics, statistics, sales pitch or important graphics or infographics that's such a black hole for anyone who hasn't been in the meeting. Going forward, this feature will allow you to have the context of the meeting and the presentation that is on screen will be embedded together with the notes with Gemini as screenshots."

She also notes, "This is important to set up in the admin console prior to the rolling out of the feature for the users."

Peggy Kolm: Set up Selfie for Sign-in Google Account Recovery

Peggy explained how to set up the new Selfie for Sign-In Google Account recovery option. You record a short selfie video that is stored in your Google Account. If you are locked out of your account, Google can prompt you to make a new selfie video which is compared to the recording. 

This option is available to most users with a personal Google Account.

Peggy says, "Every week we talk about Google features, and you know, it's YouTube, Google Videos, Notebook, your Gmail, your calendar. It would be really bad if you lost access to those. How would you lose access? You could forget your password. You could lose your phone if you need to verify your account. There's lots of things that can happen."

She really wants you to add recovery features: "Set this up! It's easy to do and it just gives you one more option so you won't lose access to your account."

Bob Danley: Organize Gemini Notebook into Collections

Bob Danley explained the benefits of organizing your Gemini Notebooks. 

There are two levels of organization: 

  • At the micro level, sources within a notebook can be automatically labeled and organized by topic.
  • At the macro level, notebooks can be grouped into Collections in your Gemini Notebook account. 
A particular notebook can be included in multiple Collections. Bob notes, "you can have a source in multiple notebooks and that prevents file bloat and of course uh it'll make it easier to find specific uh particular pieces of information."

These features are available to everyone with a Google Workspace or personal Google Account.

Bob explains why source labels are useful, "you can have a huge amount of sources in a notebook and if they're unorganized basically you're going to be in scroll city forever and that's not where you want to be."

He also notes that notebook Collections are for your personal organization, "The current platform reality is you can't share any of your Collections just yet and it won't show up if you click on the all tab on your main screen at notebook."
