Nina Trankova: New Android Backup Storage Policy and Controls

Nina shared details of Google's upcoming changes to Android backups that may use more of your storage. She also explained how you can manage your Google Account storage and delete large files. 

Nina says, "There's a little bit of work to do here individually on your device and on your computer in synchronization and get that done before you have surprise messages to upgrade [...] Mind the Google alert about and read backup storage changes and make time to check it."

Peggy Kolm: Understand Your Social Media and Video Performance in Google Search

Peggy gave an overview of the new social media properties in Google Search Console. You can connect your YouTube channel, Instagram, TikTok and X accounts to see how your posts and videos perform in Google Search. Google has provided a detailed guide that explains how you can see search queries, spot trends, compare different types of content (like YouTube Shorts versus long-form videos) and other metrics.

Peggy also noted that you should use this information together with each platform's internal analytics to understand how Google Search performance leads to views and engagement. 

Peggy says, "It's not that useful if people are clicking your YouTube video in search but then they don't actually watch the video. Right? So in YouTube analytics, you go into advanced mode and you do a filter by traffic source. You then select external traffic sources and you can select Google search and then you can see things like the views and the watch time and average view duration and other metrics from that traffic coming from search."

Bob Danley: Create Visually-Enhanced Mind Maps

Bob explained how to use the Gemini app to convert an accurate, but "dry", mind map generated in Gemini Notebook into a more visually rich infographic.

1. Create a Notebook with your relevant sources and generate a mind map. 
2. Export the mind map as a .PNG image.
3. Import the image into the Gemini App.
4. Use a prompt to redesign the mind map with compelling graphics.

Bob says, "You're going to tell Gemini, hey, I want you to go into a thinking mode and image generation. I want you to lay it out in a radial pattern. I want you to create some graphic designs or visual metaphors for these concepts. Include a short punchline for each of these nodes. And then the entire thing needs to be a presentation form like a 16:9 so you can use it as a slide. And of course, presto change-o after you've given it that prompt, it's taken what you have on the left here, the notebook, which is plain text, and created this really visual piece of information that is much easier to read and digest."
